Reverence conducted a three-day public relations and media training workshop for members of the communications team of ISKCON Ahmadabad in August 2018. The training was held with the explicit purpose of upskilling the participants in dealing with the media and other stakeholders to ensure they could professionalize their media coverage.
“We were upskilled and empowered to deal with the media immediately after the workshop,” explained Madan Mohan Krishna from ISKCON Ahmedabad. “The tips we received on ensuring we had a unique selling point to all our media stories, how to think outside the box, and how to write in a language that is media-friendly, really opened our eyes.”
The workshop included practical sessions where participants were made to practice writing of real press-releases, think of how future events and festivals could feature unique components that would set them apart from other organisations, and the basic steps to approaching media.
“What was really amazing is that after we attended the workshop, we made sure our Janmashtami event capture everything we learnt,” concluded Haresh Govinda Das, Head of Communications at ISKCON Ahmadabad. “As a result we got over 50 media stories, which is the biggest coverage we have ever got in our history.”
